A Fistful of Treats
This project involved designing a movie poster based off the classic spaghetti western film "A Fistful of Dollars" with Clint Eastwood. The goal was to create a design that parodies classic spaghetti western movies while also accurately representing the humorous nature of my cats. I started with some visual research of my favorite movie posters.
I decided on the trilogy directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood, "A Fistful of Dollars" (1964), "For a Few Dollars More" (1965), and "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" (1966) and identify key design elements to gain a deeper understanding of the spaghetti western genre. From there, I created several sketches that incorporated those key elements to create a parody version using my cats. Because who doesn't love cats?
The original's classic red, orange, and black color scheme was used for the movie poster using the same hand-drawn techniques. Using the same cowboy silhouettes and rough brush strokes pays homage to the original design. Inspired by the original hand-drawn lettering, I chose the font "Eastwood" for the title to give it the same bold and Western style. It also created a sense of toughness and masculinity that reflects the film's genre.
